Six of the graduates were invited to stay on at the end of their six months and are now part of the Turners Shipping team. From left are Sinenhlanhla Majola, Thandeka Mzindle, Nomonde Njongo, Lethokuhle Maphoso, Minenhle Buthelezi and Nontokozo Mabaso.

Twenty youngsters with qualifications in the logistics industry have benefitted from the Turners Training Academy’s Graduate Programme.

“With the funding available, we were able to provide them with six months of work experience and top-up skills training,” explains René Naidoo, the Academy’s Training Coordinator.

“Some of the graduates had finished their qualifications at their respective tertiary institutions, while others used this opportunity to complete the required work experience component of their course.”

While at Turners Shipping, they were able to work in operations, administration, and accounts, “This is valuable experience as the logistics industry is complex with many areas requiring specific skills, so they are able to get a taste of different aspects of the job and are able to find their niche.”
